Each region would need at least 6 teams to make it work. Only then could you look at dismantling the current European League. Regional winners then qualify for sem/quarter finals to become Euro champions.
Can't believe you're kicking us to Benelux when Rennes & Brest are on our doorstep! I sense a conspiracy! |

Maybe the French teams in with Guernsey is a better idea, and Lux with Holland. Not bad otehrwise. South is a little isolated.

2 speed Europe
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For me there are already 2 regions, but the problem is they extend concentrically. You have a core circling Paris stretching out to Rennes, amsterdam, and Lux. There are obvious reasons why this is this case and the teams within this region will continue to get stronger while the others struggle. Guernsey, Munich, Barcelona and the other emerging teams will always be geographically seperate to this equation and have to work harder to be competitive at the required amount of events to challenge for the Euroleague. Unfortunate as it is it will always be implausible to expect teams to be able to travel in any numbers from Munich and Barcelona to Guernsey the costs are just too much. A huge aspect of the enjoyment to be had from the Euroleague is visiting different places and meeting new people and been part of something fresh and interesting. A lot of the proposals for regionalisation seem to have teams travelling to the same destinations all the time and this sounds like something that could get very stale. There seems to be an unrealistic preoccupation developing within clubs about the league when I think it is still very much in its infancy. Some of the motions for the standardisation of pitches and goals amongst other things seem ridiculous within some regions where it is hard to find grass to play on. My opinion is that the ECB should treat the project a little more organically, see the long term goal as been proliferation of the game around Europe as opposed to getting bogged down in the intracacies of organising an impossible league with all the potential of achieving something resembling the very boring Scottish premiership. I would like to see the ECB's encouraging country by country development, perhaps creating ever changing partnerships between groups of countries each season. These partnerships would help develop the games within each country allowing for more tournament hosting for emerging clubs, different venues, different people. As it stands no venue will be inclined to give up its hosting on the Euroleague circuit and this is an issue that never seems to be discussed. over a season there are only really place for 8 or 9 weekends and are these always going to be the same forever. The obvious answer for me to maintain the vital competitive nature of everything is a CHAMPIONSHIP. using a bit of imagination this can take many forms. I would propose 4 qualifying tournaments ending in a final tournament where a combination of Football, Hurling and ladies semi finals and finals would make a very fitting finale to a season. Venues for all events would change each season. Outside these qualifiers and finals, clubs would have more time to develop the game in their country and their partner countries. The Euroleague has the look of a competition that is going somewhere but I think it is fundamentally flawed until the game is more widespread. ECB can play a much more valuable role in game and youth development than having to constantly be worrying about this leagues, points system, who qualifies, blah, blah Everybody pays their own travel to my knowledge and they would only do that if they are enjoying themselves. If the enjoyment disappears so will the clubs A championship is the key for |

Hey lads,
Any chance I could be made a moderator so I can have a look at what's been said in the European County Board Private Forum? |

Its a forum where European County Members leave notes for each other and discussion issues as there is no central office, the forum acts as an online version.
